Son & Seed Farm began with a child’s love of growing things.

When my son was little, he became fascinated with planting pumpkins and watching them grow under his care. One pumpkin was never enough. Soon he wanted to grow everything, carrots, lettuce, herbs, tomatoes, anything that could come up out of the soil. That curiosity was contagious.

At the same time, our family was looking for ways to eat more nutrient-dense, organically grown food. Growing our own became the answer. What started as a small backyard garden slowly expanded as our knowledge and enthusiasm grew. Each season we added more varieties, experimented with new crops, and learned more about soil health and regenerative growing practices.

Today that little pumpkin patch has grown into Son & Seed Farm, a small bio-intensive market garden producing over 30 varieties of vegetables, herbs, and seasonal produce near Spruce Grove, Alberta.

“Waylan dreams of having a farm more than almost anything. Son & Seed is how we’re building that dream one season and one harvest at a time.”
